I’m in the process of taking down last week’s Thursday poem share, but the system is being a little bit buggy! Don’t worry though. I will get it done.
For this week’s poem share I have one that came from an idea. That isn’t always a good thing. Sometimes when I hold onto these ideas for several weeks and then come back to them the resulting poems end up being very ho hum. I have a few more on my list that I want to try that end up revolving around games in some way.
—And now I’ll get back to revising :)
Feel free to post your work in progress and comment on mine. They will come down a week from today.
In other news I finished drafting all the poems I wanted to for the project I was working on last. I now have 31 poems to go through (don’t think all are keepers) for what I think might be a chapbook. Not sure when I’ll feel the chapbook is ready to start sending around to publishers, but I am looking forward to reading through it to see what came from those months of working on the project.
Didn’t have any poems to submit this week, but had some rejections, including one from what I’d consider to be a “1st tier” journal that I really want to get into someday. This rejection had some comments so that keeps me going. I also sent out my full length manuscript again this week as well as the poetry craft essay I’m trying to find a home for.
It was a week of getting back into the game. For those who didn’t see the previous post I am adding a list of services I hope to do as a freelancing in 2013 (although some of them can start now) so I’ll continue to update that list, and I hope some of you will join me.
As sort of a writing prompt for the week I’m thinking about the movie Crash (2004) that I FINALLY got around to watching. It is a really interesting look into the different faces of racism, but also – I think – more at the core is how we are all flawed in some way. That is something to perhaps think and write about this week.
Look forward to hearing what everyone has been up to!
